"The Notebook" TV adaption is coming to The CW

One of the most iconic romance stories of all time, Nicholas Sparks’ “The Notebook” is getting ready to hit the small screen.

The CW network has been working on a TV series adaption of the 1996 bestseller and 2004 hit film of the same name, with Sparks himself attached as an executive producer.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the show will follow “the romantic journey of the two beloved central characters Noah and Allie” as they begin their relationship and start a future together while facing a “backdrop of the racial politics, economic inequities, and social mores of post-World War II of the late 1940s in North Carolina.”

While sure to be as emotional and endearing as the original story, The CW is most likely going to leave out the tear-jerking elderly version of the couple, where Allie is struggling with Alzheimer’s.

“I don’t believe we’re going to see the older couple—what they become,” The CW president Mark Pedowitz stated at a Television Critics Association summer press tour. However, because the project is still in development, he warned that “things [in the storyline could] change.”

The CW is notorious for many popular TV shows that have developed huge fan followings—think Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, and Gilmore Girls. The TV adaption of “The Notebook” is sure to join these ranks soon.

“It wasn’t over. It still isn’t over,” Noah (played by Ryan Gosling) famously tells Allie (Rachel McAdams) in the film, before lifting her up and kissing her in the rain. It clearly isn’t, and we couldn’t be more excited.
