Jada Pinkett Smith is getting real about how the tough years with husband, Will Smith have led them to a happy place.

Throughout their 20-year marriage, like any other couple, Will and Jada have endured some difficult times. At one point, things were so bad between the couple that the Red Table Talk host nearly reached her breaking point with her A-list Hollywood husband.

“It just felt like loss. There was too much concentration on what was happening externally, and the family unit itself wasn’t getting the attention and care that I felt we needed,” Jada shared with People magazine.

Ten years into their union, the Gotham star hit a wall in her marriage. The demands of their careers combined with what she calls an “unrealistic expectation of marriage” caused her to feel depleted. Jada admits her 40th birthday inspired her to take time for herself.

By taking time for herself, Jada was able to realize she and Will had the tools to make their strained marriage work. The actress also found herself, as well as discovered what she wanted to not only do with her life but what she wanted out of it.

“I am kind of a ride-or-die chick. I just knew with the kind of love that Will and I share, which is beyond romantic love that we could transform our union and figure out how to re-create what we had,” Jada admitted to the magazine.

Thanks to taking the time to focus on Jada, the mother of two was able to redefine herself, and that in turn helped redefine her marriage. It was not easy. The talk show host recalls the path to today, “the most excruciating process.”

Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have weathered some severe martial storms throughout their 20-years. However, she admits it all led them and their entire family to a much happier place.

“The journey between Will and me. We have come to such a beautiful place. I feel like we have a stronger bond than we even had in the beginning,” Jada revealed.

She also credits Red Table Talk, with helping her family. The Facebook Watch show is all about people owning up and revealing their truths. As a family, the Smith clan have worked hard to use the platform to talk about their struggles.
