Influential Japanese Artist Utada Hikaru Releases Simple & Clean EP Remix
Japanese artist Utada Hikaru isn’t a stranger to success. Selling over 52 million records worldwide since her launch in 1999 with debut album First Love, the singer/songwriter holds a few mighty records.
Not only did her debut sell over 11 million records worldwide, but to this day still remains the highest selling Japanese and Asian album of all time.
Her newly released EP features remixes of “Hikari” & “Simple & Clean” – which, essentially are the same songs, one being in Japanese and the latter in the English language.
“Simple & Clean” is widely known in the western hemisphere for being in the international formats of Kingdom Hearts, a popular crossover action role-playing game. The series has sold over 25 million copies worldwide.

Released on January 9th, the EP on iTunes has so far held steady in many countries around the world. This includes a position of #2 in the United States and top 40 in other countries such as Sweden (#3), Finland (#6), Canada (#11), Mexico (#20), Australia (#28) and the U.K (#37).
Worldwide, she’s currently in the top 50 selling artists due to her EP release via iTunes.
