Iggy Azalea Is Slammed By People Following Cultural Appropriation-Related Comments
Iggy Azalea addressed a really sensitive subject and what she had to say about it managed to get people to bash her. Iggy is Cosmopolitan’s cover girl this month.
During the interview, Iggy found herself having to answer questions about cultural appropriation.
Iggy was addressing her comeback album called ‘In My Defense,’ which dropped back in July.
The Shade Room noted that ‘Among other things that were discussed, she talked about what she “gets” now about cultural appropriation and how she believes it’s subjective.’
TSR continued and said that ‘Iggy, who has been accused time and time again of profiting off Black Culture, is not new to the criticism.’
They cited Iggy and reported that she said the following:
‘You could ask one person of the same race, ‘Does this affect you?’ and they will say yes,’ Iggy explained.
She continued and said: ‘But another person will say no. They could be from the same place, same everything, but have different perspectives about it.’
Iggy said, ‘I’m still going to make the same type of music and still be ridiculous and larger than life…So I can’t be that f***ing sorry…’

Some people agre3ed with Iggy and others bashed her in the comments.
A person said: ‘white women cant define what cultural appropriation is…’ an d another follower posted: ‘But by definition she’s correct. It’s definitely subjective.’
Somoene else wrote: ‘Y’all call everything appropriation except when Black Women appropriate Asian culture… y’all ain’t got a problem with Black Women calling themselves Chun Li and Asian Doll 😬’
A follower told Iggy: ‘You’re literally from Australia using a fake down south accent to rap,’ and a person wrote: ‘It’s true, she is speaking facts. Some people don’t see it as appropriation, others do. Depends on the person🤷🏽♀️’
Another commenter also agrees with Iggy and said: ‘But she’s not lying. Some people have a problem, some people don’t. It is subjective.’
Somoene posted: ‘She is right though, even though rap has African American origins it doesn’t belong to one race. It’s selfish to think that, she don’t run around saying n***a or anything offensive so why knock her for making her money? Black people don’t own rap.🤦🏾♀️’
