Bruce Willis’ family is thrilled that the 80s hit Moonlighting, which helped launch his career, is now streaming to a wide audience. During the opening night of “Love Actually Live” at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, California, Rumer Willis, the daughter of Bruce, shared her thoughts on her father’s breakthrough television series.

For Rumer Willis, it’s a huge relief for the classic TV show to be streaming on Hulu. “We were ecstatic, beyond ecstatic, because we used to watch it literally on videotape,” Rumer told People. “My dad had a closet and all of the episodes were literally filled to the brim on videotape,” she continued. “And so to be able to have time and not have to hunt for it on YouTube and be able to watch it all the time is such a joy.”

‘Moonlighting’ Launched Bruce Willis in the 1980s

Moonlighting ran from 1985-89 for 67 episodes. Alongside Bruce Willis as Detective David Addison, the show also starred Cybill Shepherd as Madolyn “Maddie” Hayes. It also featured Allyce Beasley as Agnes DiPesto, and Revenge of the Nerd‘s Curtis Armstrong as Herbert Viola. The series revolves around the adventures of Shepherd, a former model, and Willis, a detective, as they run a private detective agency and solve intriguing cases.

During its 67-episode run, the critically acclaimed Moonlighting garnered multiple prestigious accolades. These include Golden Globe Awards, People’s Choice Awards, and Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. Notably, in 1987, Bruce achieved a significant milestone. He won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. It was also a launchpad for Willis, foreshadowing his future action star chops.

Rumer Sees Echoes of Her Dad in Her New Baby

Rumer shared that Moonlighting has always held a special place in her heart. Additionally, she disclosed that she sees resemblances of her renowned father in her adorable baby daughter. The new addition, Louetta Isley, was born in April to her boyfriend, Derek Richard Thomas. In particular, Rumer sees flashes of her dad from Moonlighting.

“Whenever she’s got a stern discerning look on her face, I just see Bruce Willis,” she explained. “My dad — especially on Moonlighting — has this little side smirk, that very [mischievous] twinkle in his eye, and I see that so much in her.”

“[Louetta] is truly the joy of my life and my little best friend, and I’ve never had anything happen to me that’s brought me greater joy,” Rumer said
