For many single parents, child support is a harsh reality. While most people will be required to make payments in the hundreds or thousands, this number can be quite higher for celebrities, whose income often reaches over a million dollars per year. Each time a well-known star goes through a divorce, custody and child support are often the first things to be discussed. Regardless of a person’s wealth, child support payments are often seen as an unfair burden. While some get off lightly, others are left shelling out more money than most of us will ever see. 10. Ronald Perleman $12,825 a month
With eight children, Ronald Perlman is certainly no stranger to child support. In 1996, when he and his then wife, Patricia Duff divorced, a custody natal quickly ensued as both parents fought for full custody. Ultimately, Perlman was ordered to pay $12,825 a month in child support, which he felt was extremely unfair. During an interview, Perlman stated: “… there isn’t a child in the world you can spend that amount of money on, unless you’re planning to hang Matisses on the wall of the nursery.”

9. Halle Berry – $16,000 a month
In 2014, Academy Award winning actress was ordered to pay approximately $16,000 a month in child support to her ex-husband, Gabriel Aubrey. Although Berry can probably afford the payment, she certainly was not happy about the ruling. A source close to Berry stated: “She does feel that he is abusing the system and taking advantage of her. Halle does work hard for her money, and it’s not easy for her to juggle the two kids with her work schedule. It’s understandable that she feels Gabriel should be able to make enough money to support Nahla.”

8. Mel Gibson $20,000 a month
In 2010, Mel Gibson’s child support payments went from $5,000 a month to $20,000 a month. However, in 2014, rumors began circulating that Gibson was considering fighting for custody of his daughter, meaning that he would no longer be required to pay child support.

7. Britney Spears $20,000 a month
Britney Spears’ parenting skills have often been criticized. Although there is still much debate over whether or not she is a good parent, no one can say that Spears hasn’t been pulling her weight financially. After her divorce from Kevin Federline, Spears was ordered to pay a whopping $20,000 a month. However, when Federline remarried in 2013, Spears was no longer required to make monthly child support payments.

6. Nas $25,000 a month
Before Jay-Z and Beyonce, there was Nas and Kelis. In 2005, when the musical couple married, fans everywhere were excited for what appeared to be true love. Unfortunately, the couple split up in 2010 just a year after their son, Knight, was born. As part of their divorce settlement, Nas was required to pay Kelis $25,000 a month in child support. However, Nas’ first wife, Carmen Bryant, has also accused Nas of falling behind on his child support payments, claiming that he owes her approximately $11,000.

5. Russell Simmons $40,000 a month
In 2009, millionaire mogul, Russell Simmons, was ordered to pay his ex-wife, Kimora Lee Simmons, $40,000 a month in child support. Although many would have been bitter over such a high payment, Simmons and his ex-wife have remained friends and have worked together to raise their children.

4. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs $40,000 a month
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is one of the most successful men in hip-hop. Unfortunately; however, his romantic relationships have not been as successful. As a result, Diddy has been required to pay $40,000 a month, which sources say he is not very happy about.

3. Eddie Murphy $51,000 a month
Eddie Murphy is well-known for his sense of humor; however, there’s nothing funny about his monthly child support payments. According to sources, Murphy was ordered to pay $51,000 a month in child support to former spice girl, Melanie Brown (Mel B). Although Murphy initially denied that he was the father of Brown’s daughter, DNA tests have since proven otherwise.

2. Kirk Kerkorian $100,000 a month
Billionaire business man Kirk Kerkorian spends more in monthly child support payments than most people make in a year. While this monthly amount seem ridiculous to most people, apparently Kerkorian’s ex-wife,Lisa Bonder, felt that it wasn’t enough. In 2014 she petitioned a judge to raise Kerkorian’s payments from $100,000 a month to $565,ooo a month. However, her request was denied. The true irony of this situation lies in the fact that Kerkorian and Bonder were only married for 28 days, and the child is not actually hide.

1. Charlie Sheen $105,000 a month
According to Forbes Magazine, Charlie Sheen’s child support payments equal a grand total of $105,000 per month. These payments are split between two of his ex-wives, Brook Mueller and Denise Richards. However, recent reports have stated that Sheen may have fallen behind on his responsibilities. Some sources attribute Sheen’s refusal to pay child support to his relationship with former adult film star, Brett Rossi.
